Sugar Fuel Experiment (2): Measuring amount of sugar

최종 수정일: 2021년 2월 10일

A typical sugar propellant mixture is prepared in a 13:7 oxidizer (potassium nitrate, KNO₃) to fuel (sucrose, C₁₂H₂₂O₁₁) ratio (by mass). Since our measurement equipments are not very precise, I decided to prepare the propellant in a 2:1 oxidizer to fuel ratio by mass (1kg KNO₃, 500g C₁₂H₂₂O₁₁).

We measured 2 beaker-fulls of 200g sucrose and 1 beaker-full of 100g sucrose so that they added up to 500g, the exact mass of sucrose we needed for the chemical manufacturing.
