During next summer break, I have decided to conduct an experiment to investigate the effect of rocket cone shape on its total vertical displacement. Specifically, I will be looking at the effect of the size of the acute angle of the top tip of the cross-sectional triangular shape of the cone.
This is the cross sectional triangular shape of the cone with a 60 degree top tip. All cones have a base cylinder with outer diameter 75.2 mm (80.2 - 2*2.5), since that is the 1 mm offset from the size of the inner radius of the cardboard tube (3 inches = 76.2 mm). This will ensure that the code fits adequately into the cardboard tube.
8 cones created with these sketches and dimensions will be used to test the effect of the shape of the cone on the vertical displacement. The list of acute angles that will be tested are: 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, and 60 degrees.
These 8 cones were created with the sketch above.
