Delve Into STEM: Turbofan Engine (3)

After designing the compressor, the next module to design is the turbine. The turbine is very similar to the compressor in terms of its mechanical design, having both stator blades and rotor blades that function together to cause rotary movement. The main difference between the two modules is their functions: the function of a compressor is to create a high temperature & pressure air condition, whereas the turbine utilizes this high temperature & pressure to provide rotational energy back to the compressor. Basically, the compressor generates kinetic energy which the turbine transfers to rotational energy back to the compressor (the compressor and turbine are linked to the same shaft). Ultimately, due to the combustion of fuel in the compressor that adds kinetic energy to the system, the compressor and the turbine moves faster, creating greater energy, accelerating the aircraft.

Since the process was very similar, designing the turbine was not very difficult. The complete design for the turbojet engine after it is finished will be uploaded to https://sites.google.com/pupils.nlcsjeju.kr/moojokim-3d-cad-modeling/27-turbofan-engine. Browse at your own will!
